Employee Volunteer Projects
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
-- Winston Churchill --
Whether it is feeding the hungry, mentoring students, building homes for the less fortunate or cleaning up the environment, hundreds of Rio Tinto and Kennecott employees are inspired to serve their communities through volunteerism and personal financial contributions. We view this activity as an extension of the service ethic that lies at the heart of our business.
The Kennecott Utah Companies encourage good citizenship by supporting organizations that cultivate meaningful opportunities for civic engagement by our employees and members of the community. Kennecott provides volunteer opportunities to all employees through a company committee.
The committee consists of representatives from each Rio Tinto business unit in the Salt Lake Valley and focuses on finding initiatives the companies can collaborate on to positively affect local communities. The diversity of this group fosters consistent communication between business units and ensures that Kennecott is addressing grassroots community concerns.
