Building enduring communities
Classic Neighborhoods
Imagine quiet, tree-lined streets and classic, colorful homes with graceful front porches and garages tucked away in back . . . reminiscent of great neighborhoods like Sugarhouse and Harvard Yale. Now, add some parks, schools, community centers and shopping districts networked by a convenient trail system. You can see it happening at Daybreak, our first community in South Jordan.
Public Transit Options
Our goal is to accommodate growth without aggravating Valley traffic congestion and pollution. That’s why it’s essential to promote a variety of transportation alternatives—from walking and biking trails to bus and light rail. We have planned for a main transit corridor to run through the heart of the West Bench, connecting all communities and employment centers.
Jobs and Economic Opportunities
One of the keys to creating a vibrant and sustainable community is making room for a robust employment sector. So we have planned for a variety of office, retail and other commercial uses integrated into the fabric of the community. Commercial centers will range in size from small village centers to mid-size town centers up to the larger urban centers.
Parks,Ttrails and Open Space
Our plan is to preserve 1,000 acres, nearly 25 percent of Daybreak's total area as open space.
Lifelong Education
Outstanding education is already a top priority at Daybreak. The same commitment would be carried into other West Bench schools, as well. But we’re not just talking about K through 12. We’re talking about lifelong educational opportunities—ranging from community center classes and seminars to college campuses and research.
Natural Resource Conservation
At Daybreak, we have implemented advanced heating and cooling technology in the elementary school and community center to greatly reduce natural gas consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Plus, Daybreak is the largest Energy Star community in the country—resulting in an estimated 15 percent energy savings. And we’re planting 100,000 trees as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.
